High Holidays at the Minsk

Elul 5776

Dear Congregants and Friends

I recently returned from a two-week visit to Eretz Yisroel. Naturally, people asked me, “Rabbi, why are you going?” And when I got there they asked, “Why did you come?”

For starters I could have answered: My daughter is in Israel completing two years of seminary study. Or, there are Minskers as well as friends and family whom I haven’t seen in a long time. However, I sensed it was all that and more. So the answer I gave was that I came to Israel to find out why I came to Israel.

Once I arrived, the land wove a well-planned itinerary full of unexpected surprises, which just kept on coming. I was moved emotionally and spiritually and invigorated like never before.

Naomi and I had a wonderful time together. Minskers who made aliyah have families growing while they keep working. Eretz Yisroel is bursting and building big with the expectation that millions more will arrive. Thank you, Hashem, for making it all happen.

Back at the ranch in Kensington Market the Shul continues to dish out Torah teachings, Chesed and Ahavas Yisroel. Shabbos and Yom Tov celebrations are inspiring and provide an at your own home feel for many. We’ve added a Thursday morning minyan. The summer has brought a nice flow of visitors. Recently on Shabbos, we had 18 visitors from all over the planet experience the Shul.

And if you haven’t been in a while, you’ll notice repairs going on, thanks to Gilbert Benamou.

But the real big news is the High Holidays. and the possibilities they offer us. Let’s be inspired to make this a better year in all areas……G-d made us in His image. Let’s develop that image!

Thank you for your continued support.
